Finally got past the superior Hero sandwiches. The Mortadella sandwich is a killer!! Ordered our favorite pizza, Sausage, mushrooms, and black olives, it's our go to pizza around town. Their crust is a little thick, it is not a thin crust, but I like it. The pizza is a rectangle so every piece has some crust, like that. Great balance of ingredients and flavor. Next time I will ask them to cook it a little more so the bottom gets crusty, less doughy. Really solid little pizza joint, great to have it just across the river from us.
While you def have to pay a premium price for this sub, the quality of ingredients and layers of flavors makes it worth the splurge! Esp the punchy pepper relish, dukes mayo, and quality seeded roll.
We were in Minneapolis for the weekend and were craving a solid sub- Mario's did not disappoint! We ordered the Italian Combo and Buffalo Chicken Finger Sandwiches. The sesame bread is made fresh daily and was some of the best bread I've ever had. Both sandwiches were out of this world but the Buffalo Chicken Finger sandwich blew me away!! We ordered dine-in and got our food quickly. The staff was super pleasant and the restaurant was cozy/plenty of room to sit. I'm a tough critic and I HIGHLY recommend Mario's.
What a gem! I had this place on my radar and I'm so happy to finally try it. Compared to other Detroit style pizzas in/around the cities I would say this is the best I've tried so far. Great flavor, perfectly baked, loved the sauce and the hot honey drizzle was on point. It has a cute and cozy ambiance, a definite city vibe. The service was friendly and attentive. I absolutely would come back again. We both loved it and are very happy to have leftovers to enjoy again. Thanks!!
We had sandwiches which were great, fresh and stuffed. A bit pricey at $16.5 each... with no side. Pizza sold by the slice but a pie was $22+. Service was fast and the restaurant was very clean, the server sprayed down each table after its use. St parking only ( 1 hr) near by but in front was only 15 min ... for pick up.
WOW! I ate this and completely forgot to take pictures. So, we had dessert first at Nellie's Ice Cream and then went to Mario's for dinner! It takes 30 minutes for your pizza to be ready, so plan ahead. The space is on a corner with street parking around it. They have multiple beers on tap and beer in cans, so there are choices for everyone. We went with the basic pepperoni pizza. This pan pizza has the crunchiest edges filled with butter/grease or whatever loveliness they put on it! Man, this was some good pizza. The workers are inviting, and you can tell they love their job. Our pizza was still cooking, so they offered some water so we could have a seat since we were taking our pizza. The staff was very thoughtful, and the joint had many patrons. Great end to a great evening!
Been to Mario's a few times. Surprised I haven't written a review yet, because it's definitely a gem in Saint Paul. My favorite item on their menu I is the garlic bread/balls. I love cheese and garlic and these are packed with both! I appreciate that you can get slices of pizza and even some of their speciality ones too. They offer canned drinks and beverages and have a few beers on tap. I've always had a pleasant encounter with their staff. Can't wait until the next time I have more garlic bread balls!
Weirdly we weren't in a hurry and the pizza takes 36 minutes. We ordered at the counter and got IBC root beer and the artichoke pizza. The pizza is delicious and very filling. No tiny squares of thin pizza here.
We went to Mario's for a lunch date. It was SO GOOD! Atmosphere was cozy pizza joint vibes. Service was super friendly. Pizza was incredible- crispy yet soft, flavorful, no regrets. Would definitely recommend!
Great hole in the wall place for casual dining. Mario's is an unassuming counter service restaurant with reasonably priced food, beer and wine. $3 McGolden's, Detroit style pan pizza, and friendly staff? Sign me up! Don't miss the great wing specials all day M-W.
